As I was born in a family of Social Workers, I had the opportunity to serve the rural and needy people. Gradually, I was engaged in many social activities, while assisting my father, late Bini Jaipu, who had served the State as a Political Assistant and a renowned social activist.

I was educated in Banasthali Vidyapeeth, Rajasthan. After my education, I founded the "All Subansiri District Girls' Welfare Association", where I served as President for seven years and raised my voice against evil practices such as child marriage, forced marriage, bride prices, etc.

Thereafter, I joined as Assistant Teacher and served under Education Department, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh. I was also among the first ladies to join the 1st batch of lady police under Arunachal Pradesh Police in 1978. I had witnessed the pitiable conditions of the girls and women in the State and I felt the need of a shelter home and rehabilitation centre for such women & girls.

In 1979, I initiated a small Adult Education and Nursery Center in Naharlagun and a small Shelter Home for girls, victims of child/ forced marriage and destitute women. Meanwhile, I resigned from the Police Department and registered the small Centre to an NGO, namely Oju Welfare Association (OWA), in 1988. This was my first milestone and presently various activities for destitute women and orphan children are being taken up by the Oju Welfare Association.
